THE RIDE-OUT SATURDAY AFTERNOON, (Short but sweet)This ride-out will take you into the North West of Edinburgh then along into the town of South Queensferry, for those not to familar with the area, this is the town on the south side of the River Forth where the two famous bridges cross. Parking up at the large car park by the Hawes Inn, we will stop off for an hour, pubs cafes nearby, but free food will be available to all who take part. On the way back we will travel down via Kirkliston before completing the full circle back into the Showground. For visitors who have travelled from further afield this is a rideout not to be missed.
COACH TRIPS ON THE SATURDAYEarly Saturday afternoon, a coach will be laid on to take rally goers into the Heart of our Capital City , Edinburgh. This is a bit of a "lads day out" where the bus will arrive at the capitals famous Grassmarket around 1pm, from here its only a stone's throw from the city's seedier "red light" area. To help direct you round this part of the town we have specialised club member Kev McGill to keep you right, Kev is well know in this field and will be your tour operator for the afternoon. The bus will depart from the Grassmarket at 4pm and take you back to the Showground, been know for a few to miss the bus, lol.
PS If you just want to visit the capital for the other type of sight seeing or just a few pubs just hop on board !!!
Also on the Saturday from 12noon till 6pm a Shuttle Bus will run from the Showground to the town of Broxburn, this trip takes less than ten minutes and will give you the chance to visit some local pubs & clubs in the area, also on hand you will find various takeaways ( Italian, Chinese, Indian) as well as a host of shops/supermarkets etc.
The bus will make continuous trips back and fourth within the six hour time gap.
CAMPING AREA / ACCOMODATION
Camping will be to the south west of the showground in a exclusive walled area which can easily accommodate 1000+, large hard standing area for dealers etc, there is two toilet/shower blocks within this area. Unlike the previous Farmyard Party's which was also held on this site, the camping area this time round is only a couple of minutes from the McRoberts Pavillion.
For those looking for accommodation within an easy distance of the Showground should check-out Hotels/Travel Lodges etc which come under Edinburgh Airport and surrounding areas. With the Rally being held the same time as the Edinburgh Festival you may find accommodation harder to come by so i do suggest that you take this into account and book early. Any long distance travellers could extend their stay and take in the many activities which the Festival has to offer (only 10/15 mins ride by scooter into the heart of the city centre. List of hotels etc will be included shortly
